The government urged South Korean tourists to pay special attention to their personal safety, saying that violent protests in France might cause safety problems for Korean tourists.

Foreign Ministry spokesman Lim Su-seok said at a regular briefing on the 4th, “In connection with the violent protests in France, we are sending safety text messages to nationals visiting France, guiding them to pay special attention to their personal safety.”

The French Embassy posted on its website on the 3rd that there are incidents that threaten the personal safety of foreigners traveling in France in the ‘Special Safety Notice’ posted on its website, saying, “Please refrain from visiting the suburbs of Paris and selecting accommodations in the area as much as possible.” said

In case of unavoidable visits to the outskirts of Paris, they were asked to follow △beware of robbery when getting on and off the car △refrain from going out at night or other less crowded times △inform acquaintances of the destination when going out.

Large-scale protests have continued in France since an incident in which an Algerian teenager was shot dead by a police officer on the 27th of last month. Violent protests are also spreading to neighboring countries such as Belgium and Switzerland.

On the other hand, spokesman Lim Soo-seok said regarding the recent incident where a bus carrying Korean tourists was attacked by armed robbers, “it has nothing to do with violent protests in France.”
