South Korean President met with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, agreed to restore relations and contacts

South Korean President Yoon Seok-yul, accompanied by the first lady and key ministers, has arrived in Japan for a visit, where he met with Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and agreed to restore long-suspended ties and contacts between the two countries.

According to the World News Agency, there has been a high-level contact between the two countries after 12 years. In this important meeting, the two leaders agreed to ease trade restrictions and restore mutual ties, and expressed their resolve to forget the past and work together in the future.

It should be remembered that relations between the two countries were severed after tensions over forced labor, but the South Korean president’s first announcement after being elected was that he would work to restore relations with angry neighbors.

The South Korean president said, “I believe that through such fruitful discussions, we can transform into a relationship of cooperation and mutually beneficial development.”

Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said the parties had agreed to resume shuttle diplomacy by the leaders of Japan and South Korea, regardless of the format.

Japanese media has claimed that South Korea has been invited to the ‘G7 Summit’ in Hiroshima in May, while South Korea has invited the Japanese Prime Minister to visit.
