South Korean Player Seo Seung-jae Wins Men’s Doubles Gold at 2023 World Badminton Championships

[Sports News]The finale of the 2023 World Badminton Championships on Sunday will be the men’s doubles final. South Korean player Seo Seung-jae, who already holds the gold medal in mixed doubles, partnered with Kang Min-hyuk to win a 2-1 victory following losing a game first. The host Danish combination Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen was crowned king, becoming the ninth single-time “double champion” in the history of the World Championships.

The 25-year-old doubles player Seo Seung-jae also made it to the finals of men’s doubles and mixed doubles, challenging the feat. First, he teamed up with his mixed doubles partner Cai Youzheng to beat Zheng Siwei/Huang Yaqiong, the world’s No. 1 Chinese player, at 21:17, 10:21, and 21:18. Not long following the break, Seo Seung-jae and Kang Min-hyuk played in the men’s doubles final once morest Kim Astrup/Anders Skaarup Rasmussen, who had the advantage of home court. “Seo Jiangpei” won the men’s doubles gold medal at the World Championships for the first time in 9 years. Seo Seung-jae became the first male player to win two doubles gold medals in the same event in 24 years since his predecessor Kim Dong-moon in 1999, and also the first in history. 9 “double champions” in a single World Championship (see attached table). To sum up this year’s event, South Korea won the women’s singles, men’s doubles and mixed doubles championships and became the big winner. Thailand and China won the men’s singles and women’s doubles titles respectively.
