“South Korean and Japanese leaders pay respects to Korean atomic bomb victims in Hiroshima”

President Yoon Seok-yeol and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida paid their respects at the Korean Atomic Bomb Victims Memorial in Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, Japan.

This is the first time that South Korea and Japan have visited and paid joint obeisance to a memorial stone for Korean atomic bomb victims.

President Yoon Seok-yeol and First Lady Kim Kun-hee, Prime Minister Kishida and First Lady Yuko visited the memorial stone at around 7:35 in the morning of the 21st to commemorate the Korean atomic bomb victims.

After laying flowers, President Yoon also greeted the atomic bomb victims.

The leaders of the two countries approached the shrine with a firm expression and did not say anything special to the reporters.

President Yoon got into the vehicle, guided by Prime Minister Kishida.

The Korean Atomic Bomb Victims Cenotaph is a facility built to commemorate the souls of Koreans who lost their lives in the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945.

When the atomic bomb exploded in Hiroshima, it is known that regarding 50,000 Koreans were affected.

The Korean Association of Atomic Bomb Victims has estimated the death toll of Koreans from the atomic bombing in Hiroshima at 30,000, and the memorial monument records the number of deaths at 20,000.
