The Joint Chiefs of Staff announced that it would conduct a joint ROK-U.S. naval maneuver exercise to strengthen the combined defense capability in the high seas of the East Sea for two days from the 7th to the 8th.

South Korea and the United States are planning to carry out an operation to escort the USS Ronald Reagan to the southeast of Jeju following naval exercises in the East Sea.

The navies of the two countries will conduct joint exercises such as tactical maneuvers in the East Sea, and plan to escort the Reagan to the southeast of Jeju.

The Joint Chiefs of Staff said, “We will continue to strengthen our firm operational capability and readiness to respond to any provocation from North Korea through joint exercises with the US Reagan Carrier Strike Team, which has been deployed once more to the Korean Peninsula as a measure to strengthen the enforcement capabilities of the US extended deterrence.” .

The previous day, South Korea, the United States, and Japan held a missile defense drill in the high seas of the East Sea to respond to North Korean missile provocations. The exercise was conducted from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. and was conducted assuming the situation of North Korea’s ballistic missile provocation. In particular, it focused on mastering the detection, tracking, and interception procedures through the sharing of target information.
