Korea South-East Power has signed a pilot contract with LG Chem to participate in the renewable energy electricity trading market, and mutual cooperation for 2050 carbon neutrality will begin in earnest.

South-East Power announced on the 24th that it had signed a pilot contract to supply a ‘renewable energy supply certificate’ (REC) produced at the Samcheonpo solar power plant (10MW) installed on the site of the coal-fired ash treatment plant.

LG Chem converts this into a ‘renewable energy use confirmation’ and uses it as an annual renewable energy power consumption of regarding 9Gwh and greenhouse gas reduction results.

South-East Power predicted that participation and implementation of the global campaign ‘RE100’ on the use of renewable energy in accordance with the global carbon neutrality trend might affect the exports of domestic companies. RE100, which stands for ‘renewable energy 100%’, is an international campaign that aims to cover 100% of the electricity used by businesses with renewable energy by 2050.

Previously, South-East Power signed a business agreement with LG Chem for joint response and mutual cooperation in the renewable energy trading market for 2050 carbon neutrality in February.

South-East Power plans to diversify its sales structure through active renewable energy electricity trading with domestic companies and to realize ESG management values by presenting solutions for RE100 implementation.

An official from South-East Power said, “Starting with this transaction, we will actively expand the supply of renewable energy in the renewable energy electricity trading market centered on the private sector to preoccupy the initial market for renewable energy electricity trading.”
