Centurion: South Africa bowled out for 408 runs in the first innings of the first cricket test once morest India. The Proteas also took a crucial first innings lead of 163 runs.
South Africa started batting on the third day at 256 for 5 and got out following adding 152 more runs. Opener Dean Elgar scored 185 runs off 287 balls with 28 boundaries for the Proteas. The Elgar-Marco Jansen partnership put India in the water on the third day. This partnership added 111 runs to the Proteas score. Yanson remained unbeaten on 84 runs off 147 balls including one six and 11 fours but unfortunately might not reach the century. Bumrah ended the Proteas innings by knocking the last wicket of Andre Burger (0).
Aiden Markram (5), Tony de Sorsi (28), Keegan Pietersen (2), David Bedingham (56), Kyle Verein (4), Gerald Coetzee (19) and Kagiso Rabada (1) are the players out. South African captain Temba Bavuma was injured while fielding on the first day and did not bat. Jasprit Bumrah took four wickets and Mohammad Siraj two wickets.
Earlier in the first innings, India were bowled out for 245 runs. KL Rahul’s innings once morest the Proteas pacers and scored a century gave India a better score. Rahul, who scored 101 runs from 137 balls including four sixes and 14 fours, was dismissed in the tenth place. Batting at 208 for eight on the second day, India might add only 37 more runs. Pacer Kagiso Rabada who took five wickets broke India. Andre Berger took three wickets.
