The Orlando Pirates, currently in contention for second place in the league and the Nedbank Cup final, have made their priorities clear for the rest of the season. Coach José Riveiro elaborated on his team’s main objective.
According to the Orlando Pirates coach, the possibility of being in the final of the Nedbank Cup must be sufficient motivation to invest fully in this competition. “I think clubs like the Pirates need to be in the final every season as much as possible; when you go to the final, you know the story. There is a combination of a lot of factors to be the best team,” he said. The Pirates have already won the MTN8 this season and Riveiro wants his side to repeat that experience in the Nedbank Cup.
The Spanish mentor stressed that to achieve their ambition to qualify for the final, the Pirates need to keep working. For the time being, they are far from it. The Pirates will play Venda Football Academy in the Nedbank Cup Round of 16 on Saturday.
