South Africa launches first African-made Covid vaccine factory

South Africa, spearheading the fight for equal access to Covid vaccines, is launching the continent’s first factory in Cape Town that will manufacture doses from A to Z, funded by biotech billionaire Patrick Soon – Shiong. The first vaccines will be produced this year and the site is expected to reach one billion doses per year by 2025, according to the Chinese-American businessman born in South Africa.

In Sudan, a second day of civil disobedience paralyzed Khartoum today following police violence which led to the death of at least seven people and left dozens injured on Monday. We find Bastien Renouil, our regional correspondent who tells us more regarding this movement.
