Mumbai: South Africa once more with a devastating batting performance in the World Cup. In the match once morest Bangladesh, the Proteas scored 382 runs for five wickets with the batting excellence of opener Quinton de Kock, captain Aiden Markram and Hentich Klaasen. This is the fourth time the Proteas score has crossed 300 in this World Cup. In this, the score crossed 350 three times.
The highlight of the Proteas innings was De Kock’s smashing century. De Kock’s innings seemed to be headed for a double century at one stage. The player scored 174 runs from 140 balls including seven sixes and 15 fours but was dismissed by Hasan Mahmood in the 46th over.
South Africa’s batting was strengthened by the sudden loss of Risa Hentix (12) and Rassie van der Dassen (1). De Kock and Markram put on a partnership of 131 runs for the third wicket and the Proteas took the field. Markram was dismissed for 60 off 69 balls but the Proteas’ innings went into top gear when Hen Rich Klaasen, known for his firework along with De Kock, came in for the fourth wicket. Both of them scored 142 runs.
De Kock came back in between but Klaasen continued to hit. Klassen hit 90 runs off 49 balls with two fours and eight sixes. The star came back within 10 runs of his century following forming a quick partnership of 65 runs with David Miller for the fifth wicket. Miller, on the other hand, scored 34 runs from 15 balls including four sixes.
