South Africa defeats DR Congo on penalties and finishes third in the Africa Cup

Abidjan (AFP) – South Africa beat DR Congo on penalties this Saturday (0-0, 6-5 on penalties) and finished third in the Africa Cup, in the consolation final played this Saturday in Abidjan.

On the eve of the final between Nigeria and Côte d’Ivoire, goalkeeper Ronwen Williams stopped Meschack Elia’s shot from eleven meters to ensure that South Africa, winners in the 1996 edition, achieved third place, as they did in the 2000 edition .
