South Africa reports 197 cholera cases and 43 deaths

A total of 197 cases of cholera and 43 deaths have been confirmed in South Africa, the Ministry of Health announced on Sunday June 25. According to a statement from the ministry, “the country has recorded a cumulative total of 1,045 suspected cholera cases in five provinces, of which 197 have been laboratory confirmed”.

Separately, the ministry said, there is a decline in cholera transmission and mortality rate in recent weeks following the government intervention.
