Sources: Ceasefire negotiations are at a critical moment and there is no progress.. Cairo insists on the army’s withdrawal from Philadelphia

The source said that Egypt and the factions’ movement insist on the army’s complete withdrawal from the Philadelphi axis.

He stressed that “these are very critical hours. The story of Philadelphia is still open. Israel is ready to reduce forces, but the Egyptians and Palestinians insist on a complete withdrawal. Netanyahu is not ready to surrender.”
The Israeli delegation tasked with the negotiations returned from the Egyptian capital, Cairo, this evening.

Israeli sources said that the delegation returned one day after heading to Cairo, without any progress being made in the negotiations so far.

The delegation was scheduled to discuss detailed issues of the results of the Doha talks last week, and it is still unclear whether the next meeting will be held.

Benjamin Netanyahu’s office described his meeting with Anthony Blinken as positive, saying in a statement: “A positive and constructive meeting with US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken that lasted 3 hours ended… The meeting affirmed Israel’s commitment to the American proposal, which takes into account Israel’s security interests, which it strongly adheres to.”

Blinken, who arrived in Israel on Sunday evening, will visit Egypt on Tuesday in an attempt to push for a truce in the Gaza Strip and a prisoner exchange.

This tour by Blinken, the ninth since the start of the war in the Gaza Strip on October 7, 2023, comes two days after talks in Doha regarding a ceasefire in the Strip called for by US President Joe Biden.

On Sunday evening, Yedioth Ahronoth quoted sources in the Ministry of Defense as saying that there were no indications of the possibility of reaching an agreement.

The Palestinian factions movement issued a statement on the evening of the same day, holding Netanyahu “responsible for thwarting the mediators’ efforts” and obstructing reaching a ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
