The former Indian captain Sourav Ganguly, who bravely faced the opponents on the ground, was scared by a ghost once. As part of his 48th birthday celebrations, Ganguly shared a frightening childhood ghost experience when he appeared on Sportskida’s Free Hit.
“When I was young, I saw a ghost in my house. There was a young man in my house that day for help. One Sunday evening I was sitting upstairs with my family. I must have been twelve or thirteen years old. I went to the kitchen to tell the servant that everyone wanted tea.”
“When I went to the kitchen, he was not there. I told the family that he was not seen in the kitchen. The family’s answer was that it will be on the terrace, go there and look.
“Back then there were a few huts around the house. When he went to look there, he saw him running fast along the edge of the terrace. It was a six-story building. It is guaranteed that if you fall down from there, you will not even get dust. I yelled to come down without running over the edge. No result. With this I ran to uncle. He said he thought he was going crazy.”
“I returned with everyone but did not see him. We speculated that it might have fallen somewhere while running over it. I was sure he would have died if he had fallen. With this, we searched for where it fell.”
“At that time, there were many big palm trees near our house. During the search, we would see him lying on the fronds of one of those palm trees. Remember that he was about 30 years old then. The File Force was immediately called to bring him down. We all forced him to come down but to no avail. As they could not be persuaded, the fire force staff mounted a ladder and climbed into the palm. Then he was tied with a rope and brought down. He was immediately shifted to the hospital.”
“The next evening he came back to work. But when we saw him, we all started running in fear. He requested that no one run. He said that some days his mother enters his body and that’s why he behaved abnormally yesterday,” Ganguly recalled.
