Sounion’s towing operation begins on Sunday

The Sounion was hit repeatedly in a Houthi offensive on Aug. 21 off the Yemeni rebel-held port of Hodaida on the Red Sea. The Houthis stressed that they hit it with drones and missiles.

Rebels had said they were agreeing to a “temporary ceasefire” to take the tanker they attacked to a safe port amid concerns of ecological destruction in the Red Sea, Iran’s diplomatic mission to the UN said on Wednesday, but a spokesman rushed to clarify a little later that no ceasefire was declared on their part, but it was simply decided to allow a towing operation to take place.
