Italian actress Sophia Loren (89 years old) underwent hip surgery following she fractured it following a fall on Sunday inside her home in Geneva.
The restaurant chain that Lauren owns and bears her name wrote in a statement posted on Facebook: “After the actress underwent a successful surgery, she will be in a short recovery period before undergoing rehabilitation sessions,” adding, “Fortunately, things went well and Lauren will return to our side soon.” .
Loren, who is considered a legend of the golden age of Italian cinema, celebrated her eighty-ninth birthday on September 20.
During her career, the Italian actress participated in 90 films, while she won two Oscars and an award at the Cannes Film Festival.
In a beauty contest held in Rome in September 1951, Loren met, when she was in her early youth, producer Carlo Ponti, who was 22 years older than her and became her life partner and contributor to the launch of her film career.
