It’s no secret, let alone a surprise. The eighth-generation Chevrolet Corvette doesn’t just bring the mid-engine as a revolution.
From the presentation of the Corvette C8, GM had hinted that the change of place of the engine would not be the only novelty of this eighth generation. A few months later, it was Joe Biden who ate the piece by evoking an electric Corvette… It is now Mark Reuss, president of General Motors, who formalizes on LinkedIn the arrival of an “electrified” Corvette, then an electric version, accompanied by a small video on the official Chevrolet Youtube channel which gives water to the mouth.
Electrified or electric?
The term electrified designates a hybrid version (rechargeable no doubt) of the American sports car. It will be presented very soon since it must be marketed for the 2023 vintage which begins this summer. The icing on the cake, it will be followed by a 100% electric Corvette. The one that we hardly imagine that with a good big V8 will therefore be one of the first historic sports cars to go electric.
This electric Corvette will adopt GM’s Ultium battery technology and will be equipped with a new patented energy harvesting device. Incidentally, it will also be the first production Corvette with four-wheel drive. When one revolution hides another.
