As one of the most anticipated health innovations, the Neuralink has obtained authorization for human testing.
For people who are paralyzed or suffering from neurological diseases, certain everyday actions can be very difficult to accomplish. And to date, there are few alternatives to help them. However, the firm Neuralink has been working for several years on the development of a potentially revolutionary brain implant.
Until very recently, testing of this brain implant was only possible on animals. But Neuralink got very good results with these first experiences. In fact, the FDA (the Food and Drug Administration, health authority allowing the marketing or testing of drugs) has taken action.
It authorized the company to begin human brain implant testing. The news was shared on the firm’s Twitter account and was relayed in France by FranceInfo.
We are excited to share that we have received the FDA’s approval to launch our first-in-human clinical study!
This is the result of incredible work by the Neuralink team in close collaboration with the FDA and represents an important first step that will one day allow our…

How might Neuralink change the lives of millions of people?
A company owned by Elon Musk (owner of Tesla and SpaceX), Neuralink has been around since 2016. And since its inception, the company has been working on developing a technology that allows humans to communicate with computers or objects through thought.
From science fiction to the first animal tests, the Neuralink is designed above all to make everyday life easier. Moreover, Elon Musk recalled his wish to make it benefit in priority sick and disabled people. The brain implant would act as a relay between orders commanded by the brain and sent to other ancillary equipment.
This might therefore, for example, give the paralyzed the ability to walk or remanipulate objects. But the company does not want to stop there. The capabilities of the implant are such that it might become an extension of our brain, like RAM or an external hard drive that you plug into a computer.
The first steps of interconnectivity are approaching
Via the Twitter post, the firm also confirms that the recruitment of volunteers for the experiments has begun. However, the requirements for taking part in this test phase are not yet known. The firm will communicate additional information in the coming weeks before starting a new stage of its development.
The clinical trial will also mark a small revolution with the first interactions between human brain and technological implant. However, it intimidates and disturbs some people ethically. But this technology also opens the way to a potential amplification of cerebral capacities such as memorization.
