We know a little more regarding the future of the Bonaparte city, on the same street. The market hall, which permanently closed its gates in May last year, will house a restaurant and a rooftop. A priori, nothing flashy or grandiose, but an option focusing on a warm and friendly spirit.
Jocelyn Mercier, regional director of the Deromedi group, an investment property owner of the walls, unfolds the project: “We have submitted a building permit to create a restaurant. We are not touching the existing building in order to have a small terrace on the roof, thanks to an elevation of only 2.50m.”
Possibility of privatizing
More precisely, the ground floor of the former city will become, over an area of 500m2, a restaurant with bar incorporating a partially interior terrace. From this space, a staircase will lead to another, higher level of 120m.2with 80m2 dedicated to offices, technical premises and toilets, and 40m2destined to become rooftop. “A modest roof terrace that can also be privatized.”
Third party appeals in progress
Currently, we are still cleaning the premises. “We scrape the paint, remove all the rubble, we create a clean volume.”
There was a lot to do. The building permit has been filed and obtained. There remains an essential phase: “That of the third-party appeal, which lasts 2 months. If the permit is not challenged within this period, the work might start in December and continue for around 5 months.”
Successful brand
So, by April-May 2024, rue Bonaparte should see a new restaurant flourish.

The owners are in talks with a successful French restaurant brand, specializing in Italian cuisine. A friendly, local concept that would fit perfectly with the profile of a truly tasteful working-class neighborhood.
