In addition to the feasibility study, there was also talk of an environmental and social impact study of the project, a study of the prospects for the mobility of travelers and goods during the years of operation of the Rabat line -Fez, as well as an economic performance study. After having finalized these first studies, ONCF will have to launch new ones relating to the execution of the project, as well as to the financial arrangement.
The National Office of Railways (ONCF) plans to cover the entire national territory by railways according to a plan that takes into account the economic development of the regions. This plan consists of the installation of 1,300 km of new high-speed lines, and 3,800 km of conventional railway lines aimed at connecting 43 cities, instead of 23 to date, as part of the development of the railway network in Morocco.
These new lines will provide rail transport to 87% of the population, instead of the current 51%. The plan also provides for the creation of ten regional centers to connect other means of transport, as well as a project to link 14 ports and 12 airports with the rail network.
