soon a 2×2 lane asphalt road –

An envelope of 8.8 billion FCFA has been mobilized for the start of work on the 80 km long Ntoum-Cocobeach road, announced Tuesday the President of the Transition, Brice Clotaire Oligui Nguema, passing through Cocobeach as part of the last phase of a republican tour which took him to the 9 provinces of the country.

In a pitiful state for several years, the road which links Ntoum to Cocobeach over approximately 80km, should soon be paved, announced the transitional president during his republican tour in this seaside town.

« The problem of access to your locality is acute. And we will take immediate measures. That is why I am instructing the Minister of Public Works to undertake the work as soon as possible. “, declared the transitional president in front of a jubilant population.

This road will be paved by a Brazilian company whose name has not been revealed by the President of the Transition. The latter will have the mission of building a 2×2 lane toll road thanks to funding from the Gabonese State.

According to the forecasts of the National Development Plan for the Transition (PNDT), the development work on this 80km long section will cost a total of 68.8 billion FCFA. Of this amount, only 8.8 billion FCFA have already been mobilized according to the President of the Transition. It therefore remains to raise approximately 60 billion FCFA to complete the work by 2026.

However, access to this toll road will be subject to a charge, as Brice Oligui Nguéma specified. The authorities, the Prime Minister and his government, will find the amount to allocate at the crossing. That’s how cities develop. So we have to accept the toll. It’s a principle that works everywhere and that allows us to maintain the roads. The State can’t do everything. And when the State does, the populations have to be compensated. That’s the development we want.“, declared the President of the Transition.

Expected for several years by the populations, the asphalting of this road according to Fidèle Ondo Nze, special delegate of the department of Noya, constitutes the “key to the development of this locality”. The objective of the president of the transition is to transform this locality into a development pole.

« I want to make Cocobeach a resort with restaurants, schools and shops “, affirmed Brice Oligui Nguéma. And to achieve this objective, other infrastructures will be built in the locality by Gabonese companies. The president of the transition announces for this purpose, the construction of an administrative city in Cocobeach equipped with 30 houses for civil servants, a hotel with 50 rooms, a shopping center, …
