Sony’s latest technological revolution is a Walkman worth almost 4,000 euros

Sony has announced two new models of portable music players from its Walkman brand, including the new NW-WM1ZM2 Signature Series and NW-WM1AM2, which are committed to high-quality sound, Android streaming and WiFi compatibility. The new devices, aimed at the most audiophile users, belong to the Signature Series range of Sonywith the ability to download and stream from music catalogs with WiFi compatibility.

The first of the models Walkman, NW-WM1ZM2, has a gold-plated Oxygen-Free Copper (OFC) chassis with a purity of 99.99%, which generates greater robustness. The second, NW-WM1AM2, features an aluminum alloy frame with a rigid housing, resistant to electrical noise and interference. Both players use S-Master HX digital amplifier technology, developed specifically for the Walkman, which is accompanied by the use of lead-free solder.

They are inspired by the DMP-Z1 to increase the power of the power supply, both in the analog and digital blocks. In the NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2, the capacitors have been improved and fine-tuned by using several high-polymer FT CAP3 capacitors and a large solid-polymer capacitor, with high capacitance and low resistance. On the other hand, an OFC chassis covers the digital block, which improves silences.

To improve sound quality, Sony has used a thick KIMBER KABLE coaxial cable that connects the amplifier to the NW-WM1ZM2’s headphone jack, as on the DMP-Z1, while the NW-WM1AM2 player uses a low cable. OFC resistor with low distortion. Each Walkman is equipped with a double clock and superior sound resistance.

For the first time, Sony has started using gold reflow soldering to improve sound localization and the width of the sound space. Both the NW-WM1ZM2 and NW-WM1AM2 feature a built-in DSD remastering engine that converts PCM (Pulse Code Modulation) audio to 11.2 MHz DSD (Direct Stream Digital). real with DSEE Ultimate.
