Sony Xperia Pro-II may have rotating crown to control focus, zoom and camera aperture

Sony appears to be preparing the launch of the Xperia Pro-II, which will mark the new generation of its most advanced cell phone in terms of photography. Rumors indicate that this device will have important advances in the camera system, and on Monday (18), a new leak detailed one of its possible mechanisms for professional photographers.

According to the website sumahodigestthe Xperia Pro-II can be equipped with a rotating crown similar to that found on professional cameras. This mechanism would be used to adjust settings when taking a photo — such as zoom, focus and lens aperture —, just like on a DSLR camera.

This rotating crown would be installed on the new Xperia Pro’s primary camera, allowing users to have granular control over photography settings. It is worth remembering that the Xperia Pro-I, launched in 2021, caught the public’s attention with its variable aperture lens and 1-inch sensor “inherited” from the Sony RX100 VIII camera.

As for camera specifications, it is speculated that the Xperia Pro-II will have a similar set to its predecessor, so we are talking regarding a primary camera with a 1-inch sensor, as well as a wide-angle lens and a periscopic lens.

The new cell phone designed with a focus on professional photography is expected to be announced in 2024, although leakers are not betting their chips on a launch at MWC 2024 — an event that should mark the presentation of the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 5 VI. The Xperia Pro-II is most likely to be introduced at the end of the first half of the year, according to leakers.
