The current generation of home consoles is starting to get a little old and it is likely that “new” consoles will soon appear. These would benefit from various technological advances and the potential PS5 Pro or PS6 might well integrate artificial intelligence.

The PlayStation 5 has been a real success for Sony, with the PS5 being the best-selling console since its release among all its competitors. To continue its momentum, the Japanese manufacturer, following releasing a PS5 Slim, might well be working on a PS5 Pro, which, according to rumors, might not be the expected revolution.

Furthermore, it is obvious that Sony is currently in the process of actively prepare for its next generation of console with a PS6 in order to maintain its hegemony on the market of current video games.

If the machine capabilities still remain very mysterious, some information provides a first glimpse of the capabilities of the PS5 Pro. In particular thanks to development kits which would have been found in the wild but also to new patents from Sony which suggest that the manufacturer’s next console might integrate artificial intelligence.

A patent previously filed by the company suggested a desire to dynamically adjust difficulty in video games. The new patent would do the same but with the help of AI. To do this, Sony’s new technology might collect player telemetry data to create a personalized profile.

Sony’s future console wants to know everything regarding gamers

The one would contain all the information regarding how to play of the user, who might then be analyzed by an AI processor integrated into the machine hardware. If this latest information leaves doubt as to the addition of this functionality on the possible PS5 Pro, the multiple references to Sony’s Cloud servers may suggest the opposite.

Thus, this technology would not be not necessarily reserved for the PS6 but might also be integrated in a roundregarding way into the PS5 Pro. This new patent would complete the previous one by allowing thedisplay of tips on the game screen but potentially on the controllers consoles too.

The DualSense (the PS5 controller) does not does not have an integrated screenit is possible that this new technology can therefore escape itunless Sony also plans an evolution of its current device during the generation.

Regardless, this patent highlights the active willingness on the part of Sony to collect user data. While this is not surprising coming from a large technology company, the capabilities of the players are not not something they actively want to share with the manufacturer.

Not to mention the fact that the company might “infantilize” its users with its dynamic difficulty, the “profiling” of this new patent might disturb some. On the other hand, it must be remembered that not every patent is synonymous with a new functionality.

Indeed, it is entirely possible that these will never be integrated into any machine in the future. To know if Sony is going to take the player by the hand, we will therefore have to wait for an official announcement from the manufacturer regarding its future home consoles.
