Sony PS Plus membership reorganized to 3 stages, cloud game streaming not provided in Korea :: Bodnara

Sony has announced a new game subscription service that will compete with Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass.

Jim Ryan, president and CEO of Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE), announced on the official PlayStation blog on the 29th that the new PlayStation Plus membership, which combines the existing console membership service PlayStation Plus and the console game streaming service PlayStation Now, 3 It is said to be provided in branch form.

PlayStation Plus (herefollowing referred to as PS Plus) membership consists of three tiers, and the service provided to existing PS Plus subscribers will be renamed ‘PS Plus Essential’. The benefits provided are the same as the existing PL Plus: ▲ 2 downloadable games of the month ▲ limited discount ▲ cloud storage for saved games ▲ online multiplayer access.

The price of PS Plus Essential is the same as the current PS Plus price in Korea, ▲ 7,500 won per month ▲ 18,800 won every quarter (3 months) ▲ 44,900 won every year (12 months). Therefore, it is expected that customers who currently subscribe to PS Plus membership will be transferred to the Essential level without additional cost.

A mid-tier membership, called PS Plus Extras or Specials, provides all the benefits of the Essential Tier, plus an additional 400 downloads and play of popular PS4 and PS5 games. It is reported that this includes not only Sony first-party PlayStation Studio games, but also third-party blockbuster games.

The PS Plus special plan is Korean standard ▲ 11,300 won per month ▲ 31,000 won every quarter (3 months) ▲ 75,300 won every year (12 months).

The top-tier PS Plus Premium membership provides all the benefits of essential and special tiers, plus access to PS3 games via cloud streaming, streaming and downloading of popular classic games from original PS, PS2, and even portable game consoles to PSPs. 240 available games are added.

In addition, in countries where PS Now is currently available, customers with PS, PS2, PSP, and PS4 games on special and premium tiers will be able to stream games to PS4, PS5, and PC. Here’s a limited-time game trial for AAA titles that lets you try out some of the games before you buy.

However, since Ps Now, a cloud streaming service, is not currently provided in Korea, a separate PS Plus Deluxe plan will replace it for these countries. Deluxe membership excludes access to PS3 cloud streaming, classic game streaming, and game streaming on PS4/PS5/PC, included in premium, and is only available for a limited time, and download and play of popular classic games on PS, PS2, and PSP can only

The PS Plus Deluxe plan is offered at a lower price than the premium plan at 12,900 won per month, 35,000 won every quarter (3 months), 86,500 won every year (12 months), but the actual performance has decreased because the cloud game streaming function is missing.

Gamers are of the opinion that it is necessary to launch a premium membership in Korea, not a deluxe, for PS Plus, because the Xbox Game Pass of Microsoft, a competitor, provides cloud game streaming in Korea as well.

The new PS Plus membership will go into effect in June.
