Sony Music celebrates 30 years of Whitney Houston’s show in South Africa – Billboard

Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Entertainment, in collaboration with The Estate of Whitney E. Houston, The Whitney E. Houston Legacy Foundation and Primary Wave Music, announced the 30th anniversary tribute to the historic concerts of Whitney Houston in South Africa. On October 23 and 27, fans will have the chance to watch the Durban, South Africa concert in a limited, remastered, in-theater screening. This never-before-released performance has been remastered in 4K with enhanced audio, offering a premium visual and audio experience.

In addition to the cinema screenings, the film will be released on November 8th The Concert for a New South Africa (Durban)a new live album that captures the essence of Whitney Houston’s iconic 1994 concerts. Performing in Durban, Johannesburg and Cape Town, the artist was the first major Western artist to perform in post-apartheid South Africa. These concerts, which drew more than 200,000 attendees, not only marked a musical milestone but were also a symbol of freedom, hope and unity. A portion of the proceeds from these events went to local South African children’s charities, reflecting Houston’s humanitarian commitment.

The album will include some of Houston’s biggest hits such as “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me),” “How Will I Know,” “I Have Nothing,” “Greatest Love of All” and “I Will Always Love You,” along with other classics such as “Amazing Grace” and “Home.” It will also feature the previously unreleased song “Love Is.” This release promises to capture the magic and emotion of a night that transcended music and became a cultural milestone. The album will be available on digital platforms beginning November 8.
