A Sony may give up on the Xperia 5 line to focus on the launch of the more expensive model Xperia 1. The information was shared last weekend on social media.
According to rumors, this change in positioning by the Japanese manufacturer is being designed to reduce the catalog and sell only what has a higher profit margin.
Collaborating with the rumor, leaker Zacbucks posted on his social media profile: “Xperia 5 Series RIP 2024”.
The Xperia 5 V was launched in Europe in September 2023, but this smartphone was not brought to the United States. In its justification, the Japanese manufacturer said:
We are not launching the Xperia 5 V to the North American market this year because we want to focus on our flagship Xperia 1 V.
For now, Sony does not comment on the matter. Therefore, everything should be considered as just another market rumor.
