At its State of Play event, Sony lifted the lid on a first salvo of PS VR 2 games.
Resident Evil Village
The headliner of the evening was of course the VR adaptation of Resident Evil VIII Village, which was completely reworked for the occasion to be playable in virtual reality, with a helmet on the head. Resident Evil Village will be part of the launch titles for PS VR 2. Unfortunately, it seems that it will be a dedicated VR version, and therefore owners of the original game will have to checkout to play it in virtual reality. … One thing is for sure, this is arguably the scariest title in the PS VR 2 launch line-up.
No Man’s Sky
Another announcement of the evening, that of the port of the space exploration game No Man’s Sky in virtual reality, also on PS5. This VR version should offer a much better immersion with the augmented reality headset on the head. However, do not expect a big revolution, pad in hand.
The Walking Dead Saints & Sinners 2
Fans of the Walking Dead series will be able to discover a new adaptation of the franchise which will take the form of a first-person shooter played entirely in virtual reality. The formula is well known to PSVR owners since Saints & Sinners was released on the first PS VR. Chapter 2 should use the same concept with, however, slightly prettier graphics…
Horizon: Call of the Mountain
But the real good surprise of the evening was, without a shadow of a doubt, the announcement of Call of the Mountain, the first spin-off in the Horizon series, which will take the form of an adventure game. in the first person taking place in the Horizon universe. Visually, the game looks impressive and above all very immersive. It’s also the only “first-party” PS VR 2 game, developed in-house at Sony, that the maker has unveiled so far.
