Sony launches its new phone “Xperia 1 IV”

The Japanese electronics maker, Sony, has officially launched its new smartphone, “Sony Xperia 1 IV”, which it described as being packed with the latest technologies in photography, gaming and music to provide a rich user experience.

The Xperia 1 IV features a 6.5-inch 4K OLED display that supports HDR architecture with edges instead of a notch.

The screen also has a refresh rate of 120Hz and an aspect ratio of 21:9.

As for gaming, the screen offers the user a touch sampling rate of 240Hz, in addition to Motion Blur Reduction technology at a rate of 240Hz.

The company said on its website that this technology also allows players to share 30-second gameplay clips on their social networking sites.

The company has also added a “Game Enhancer” feature that allows gamers to host a live broadcast on YouTube.

Performance and Settings

As for performance and settings, the phone is powered by the most powerful processor in the world now that comes from the “Snapdragon 8 Gen” type from the American company “Qualcomm”, along with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB built-in storage space. Expandable via a “microdSD” card up to 1 TB.

And the smartphone runs on Android 12 operating system right out of the box. The phone is also equipped with full-stage stereo speakers capable of playing 360 Reality Audio, in addition to the “Music Pro” function that uses “cloud processing” to convert recorded audio into sound “as if it was recorded in a professional studio,” according to the company.

The new phone features a 5000 mAh battery that supports fast charging, as the company claims that charging reaches 50% in just 30 minutes. The battery also supports wireless charging.

Camera

For photography, the phone comes with a triple rear camera setup, which includes 12-megapixel Exmor RS image sensors.

The triple camera module includes a 16mm ultra-wide lens, a 24mm ultra-wide lens, and a new 85-125mm “telephoto” lens with continuous optical zoom.

The company said that the new camera setup is capable of recording “4K” videos at 120 frames per second and up to 5 times slow motion.

As for the selfie camera, the Xperia 1 IV is also equipped with a 12-megapixel Exmor RS image sensor.

Price and availability

The company launched the Sony Xperia 1 IV officially in the United States, initially at a price of $1,600.

The company has already started receiving pre-orders, and shipping will begin on September 1.

The company said that the public will be able to purchase the phone through authorized distributors or its website.

The company announced that the phone is also scheduled to be available in select countries in Southeast Asia starting in the third quarter of this year.

The smartphone will be available in black, purple and white colours.
