Sony is developing a virtual world for “Manchester City”

Sony announced that it is developing “amazing” virtual worlds for “PlayStation” games, which will be among the largest worlds in Metaverse, according to Al-Hurra TV.

According to a report published by “The Verge”, the company presented, during the “CAS 2023” conference, a quick experience of the virtual world of “Manchester City” via Metaverse.

The quick experience of the world of “Manchester City” is only a prototype or “proof of concept” of what Sony is working on, as it will allow fans to participate in the activities of its virtual version of the Etihad Stadium, using their avatars.

Nami Iwamoto, product manager at Sony, said that the virtual world will have unique interactions, allowing users to communicate in a new way.

The virtual world offered by Sony allows the stadium and characters to be shown from more than one perspective, be it players, goalkeepers or fans.

And Sony showed another clip showing the monitoring of players using “seven sensors” to recreate them digitally in metaphysical space, according to the report.

The partnership was announced for the first time between Sony and Manchester City, in November 2021, while the report indicated that following more than a year, what was announced was not clear if it would be available for use, and if it was considered the best way to communicate with fans.

The “The Verge” report quoted a Sony press release in which it said that users will be able to create avatars on their phones, while a company spokesman, Yu Kikuchi, confirmed in a message to the site that the Manchester City virtual world will be launched in 2023.
