Sony Electronics has unveiled a new family of InZone gaming monitors and gaming headsets for both PC and PlayStation 5s.

InZone is a new brand launched by Sony for gaming peripherals. It is separate from PlayStation because it was developed by Sony Electronics with a primary focus on PC gamers.

But these new products also have features aimed at PS5 users. However, the InZone brand will primarily target PC gamers. Sony indicated that the gaming market is growing at a rapid rate and market researcher Omdia expects it to grow at a steady rate until 2023.

The screens will focus on fast-paced first-person shooter games. Sony has unveiled the InZone M9, a 27-inch diagonal 4K monitor that works at 144Hz. It has IPS 1ms GtG (gray-to-gray), variable refresh rate, or VRR, (HDMI 2.1) and is G-Sync compatible. It also has some unique features for the PS5 including an automatic KVM switch / USB-C (DP Alt Mode). It retails for $899 and debuts this summer.

Sony also has a 27-inch HD monitor called the InZone M3. It works at 240 Hz. It also has IPS 1ms GtG and VRR and is G-Sync compatible. And it has the same features as PS5. It retails for $529 and arrives this winter. Both screens support HDR.

The screens also have a full local dimming system, where the light travels where it is needed so you see more depth in shadows and highlights. The idea is that you will be able to detect enemies lurking in the dark and reveal objects in brightness with greater clarity.

On the M9, the screen is DisplayHDR certified at 600 nits of brightness.

As for the controls, Sony said the InZone Hub PC software will help layers quickly and easily adjust screen settings with just a few mouse clicks using the OSD menu control PC software.

You can set specific picture mode and headphone audio profiles for individual PC applications such as the game. You can control the brightness and contrast of the FPS game picture mode, track the elapsed game time or show how smoothly the game is running with the frame rate counter.

For the PS5, the console automatically recognizes InZone displays during setup and optimizes HDR settings so you can see details and colors in the brightest and darkest parts of the screen in high-contrast scenes.

InZone game monitors automatically switch to Game1 mode when playing. This reduces input lag to make the action more responsive. You can use Cinema Mode when watching movies via the streaming service or from a Blu-ray disc on the PS5, which shifts the focus to image processing for a more expressive picture.
