The possibility of Microsoft buying Activision Blizzard raises a lot of questions regarding what will happen to certain franchises on rival consoles like the PlayStation in the future.

While Xbox’s Phil Spencer assures us there’s nothing to worry regarding, Sony CEO Jim Ryan has given another story on the matter.
During an intervention on the Gamesindustry siteRyan explained that he had an inadequate proposal for keeping Call of Duty on PlayStation.
Microsoft only offered Call of Duty to stay on PlayStation for three years following the current deal between Activision and Sony ends. After almost 20 years of Call of Duty on PlayStation, their proposal was inadequate on many levels and failed to consider the impact on our players. We want to ensure that PlayStation players continue to experience the highest quality Call of Duty, and Microsoft’s proposal goes once morest that principle.

The current agreement between Sony and Activision would be in effect for the next opus, Modern Warfare 2, as well as the two following ones. In short, if we trust the words of the CEO of Sony, Microsoft is currently proposing that following this pact, players on the PlayStation console will be able to continue playing the new chapters of Call of Duty for another three years… and then it is to be determined!
And, as long as we hitch a ride on the subject, we are not yet talking regarding the fate for games like Overwatch or Crash Bandicoot…
Will this indeed be the case? We can doubt it, since it would deprive Microsoft of a very significant source of income.
That said, before speculating what will happen to Call of Duty or other games on PlayStation, the deal needs to be approved in multiple countries, which hasn’t been done yet.
