Sony PlayStation announced on Japan’s official Twitter that the company will terminate following-sales service for the last PS3 model sold in Japan and all PS3 accessories at the end of April.

After-sales service will be discontinued on Saturday, April 30, 2022 for the PlayStation®3 CECH-4300 series and all PlayStation®3 peripherals due to the exhaustion of parts inventory. PlayStation stated in the announcement that due to the depletion of parts inventory, as of April 30, 2022 (Saturday), it will no longer be able to provide following-sales service for the PS3 CECH-4300 series main unit and all PS3 accessories. In addition, PlayStation also issued a notice on the official Japanese customer service website, and suggested that customers who wish to provide following-sales service for related models should perform online repairs before April 30, 2022 (Saturday) and May 7, 2022 (Saturday). Reception service or PlayStation Customer Support to request following-sales service. If there is no prior application, please send the product directly to the PlayStation Clinic before April 30, 2022 (Saturday).
PlayStation 3 following-sales service for all other console models has ended prior to this announcement, but PS4 and PS5 consoles will continue to be supported in all regions.
The PS3 was originally released in Japan on November 11, 2006, followed by the PS3 Slim in September 2009, and the Ultra Slim model in October 2012. The ultra-slim model is the last PS3 model to be offered following Sony’s announcement above.
