Sony abandons its crazy nomenclatures

Sony unveils a marketing transition for the year 2024. No more complicated names, make room for simplification.

By unveiling new product lines, Sony took the opportunity to make some changes to the names of these products. In an article in the American media Engadget, a spokesperson for Sony specifies the company’s desire to make the brand more accessible, by using more memorable names.

About ten days ago, Sony presented two new series of audio products. First and foremost, the ULT tower, ULT field and ULT wear Bluetooth speakers. It was the first time the company unveiled products without the usual nomenclature consisting of letters and numbers, a little convoluted like the Sony WH-CH720N headphones (which probably meant wireless headphones CH720N, which is hardly simpler). These new names are much clearer and above all memorable. Sony describes this audio series as a “new phase in the innovation” of its products.

Recently, Sony confirmed this desire for renewal, by announcing a new series of products, this time TVs. The new Bravia series offers three new TVs. Bravia 7, Bravia 8 and Bravia 9. Here we find two Mini-Led models, a new function from the Japanese manufacturer, and an OLED model. The Bravia 9 TV aims to be very advanced, with a new “Mini-LED” panel that seems to work miracles. Together with a new processor and an ATMOS sound system, integrated wants to make its new series a reference. Although the prices have not yet been announced, we can expect the Bravia 7 and 8 to be the more affordable models.
