Sonos released its new Sonos Era 300 just a few months ago. I had the chance to test the product for JVTECH, and I admit I took a little slap. If you’re looking for a good all-around smart speaker to set up just about anywhere in your home, I can’t recommend this product highly enough. Sonos is not a reputable manufacturer to be accessible. Sound quality: spatial audio changes everything!
The Era 300 is a speaker designed for spatial audio and Dolby Atmos certified. Concretely, what does this mean? It takes the combined work of no less than 6 speakers and an AI to work on the signal, your music or your film, received at the source. From there, the speaker performs clever calculations taking into account its environment in order to lock you in a bubble of sound. You’ll feel like you’re in the middle of the stage, as the music comes from all around you. In use, it’s quite impressive (be careful to place yourself in front of the product).
Sound signature level, Sonos is a brand known for trying to approach as faithfully as possible the intentions of the artists, therefore the Hi-Fi standard. Here, we have a product with spectacular midrange (excellent voice presence) and bass nicely round. It’s premium, and it shows.

We talked about it a bit in the intro, Sonos is a manufacturer that only sells extremely well-finished products. Design level and quality of manufacture and ergonomics, difficult to find better on the market.
The Sonos application, ultra complete, fluid and intuitive, also allows manual calibration through a small equalizer. Overall, the app is full of features and it is quite pleasant to walk around to discover everything! You can connect your favorite streaming service to it, but we highly recommend Apple Music, for maximum (lossless) quality and Spatial audio. As a good connected speaker, the Era 300 is controllable by voice using 2 voice assistants: Alexa and Sonos Voice Control. The two assistants are extremely efficient and responsive, even when you are in a noisy environment or a little far from the product.
Conclusion: yes, the beast is worth its price … especially on sale

The Era 300 is a product that we warmly want to recommend. This ultra-featured connected speaker is extremely pleasant to use on a daily basis, especially for people in the Sonos ecosystem and iPhone owners. In terms of design, the Era 300 is magnificent and well designed, even if the black model is sensitive to fingerprints and dust. In terms of sound, Sonos’ touch flatters the ear: the low frequencies are rich and the mids ultra-precise. It is undeniably one of the best speakers on the market in 2023.
