The Tando-Zinze Commune, in Cabinda, was chosen for the official launch of the cooking gas distribution pilot project, aimed primarily at rural communities across the country
Called “Social Gas and Rural Gas Campaign”, the initiative project by the Sonangol Group, through its subsidiary Sonangol Gás e Energias Renováveis, initially aims to distribute “mini-gas” kits, consisting of 3 kg cylinders. with a spreader and the delivery of motorbikes to support resellers in the 8 municipalities of Cabinda, thus making gas more accessible to populations in rural areas and contributing to the reduction of deforestation of forests and the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions into the environment.
“We also intend to expand the supply of cooking gas to other more distant municipalities, through the identification and promotion of resellers, in the eight Communes of the four municipalities of the province, with the partnership of local wholesalers who will deliver to resellers and they will take to the communities on the motorbikes that were delivered”, explained the Member of the Sonagás Executive Committee, Maria Correia.
Representing the Governor of Cabinda, the Vice-Governor for the Economic Sector, Macário Malembe, said, on the occasion, that with the implementation of the project, the forests might be free from acts of indiscriminate felling of trees and mitigate desertification in the province.
