Son killed parents then shot himself

According to the current status, the police assumed in a broadcast that the son at least committed suicide with a blank gun. The father and mother (67 and 59 years old respectively) were still alive when the rescue workers arrived, but subsequently succumbed to the serious injuries at the scene of the crime.

The son was already dead. A witness told the police at 8.37 a.m. that he had heard a shot and then seen a man lying in a garden.

“Witnesses are being questioned at the moment,” police spokesman Helmut Marban told APA in the afternoon. He also thought it possible that the public prosecutor would order autopsies. One cannot say more without extensive investigations.

The mayor of Nickelsdorf, Gerhard Zapfl (SPÖ), told APA: “The local people are shocked by this terrible act.” The family was known, they were inconspicuous and there were no signs of what had happened. Zapfl expressed his sympathy to the relatives in view of the “extremely tragic story”.
