Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah, who is competing with Son Heung-min (Tottenham Hotspur) for the top scorer in the English Premier League (EPL), will miss the match once morest Southampton due to an injury.

Liverpool will play the 2021-2022 EPL Round 37 match once morest Southampton at St Marys Stadium in England at 3:45 a.m. (Korean time) on the 18th.

Liverpool, who are currently second in the regular league with 86 points, must win the match once morest Southampton to continue their competition for the league title with Manchester City (90 points).

However, Liverpool announced through their official channels on the 17th that striker Salah and defender Virgil Van Dijk were unable to play in the match once morest Southampton due to injuries.

Salah was substituted out following complaining of groin pain in the 33rd minute of the FA Cup final once morest Chelsea on the 15th. Van Dijk was also substituted following regular time due to a muscle injury.

It is unclear whether Salah will play in the EPL final once morest Wolverhampton on the 23rd.

However, Salah and Van Dijk’s injuries do not appear to be serious. It is understood that he was given a break so that he might compete in good health in the UEFA Champions League final once morest Real Madrid on the 29th.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp said at a press conference ahead of the match once morest Southampton: “Both players are fine. “We aim to participate in both weekend matches,” he said, “because we will be perfectly prepared for the Champions League final.”

Heung-min Son (21 goals) is more likely to be the top scorer due to the absence of Salah, who is currently the top scorer in the EPL with 22 goals. Heung-Min Son, who is currently behind by one goal, has only the final EPL match once morest Norwich City on the 23rd. Norwich are the weakest team that has been relegated to the bottom of the Premier League this season.

If Heung-Min Son scores a goal once morest Norwich, he will be tied for first place in scoring, and if he succeeds in multi-goals, he can rise to the top position alone.

Salah has been silent since adding two goals once morest Manchester United on 20 April, so it is unclear whether he will be able to add one even if he plays once morest Wolverhampton.
