Son Heung-min and Hwang Hee-chan were both born in Hupyeong-dong, Chuncheon-si.

After graduating from Buan Elementary School in Hupyeong-dong, Son Heung-min attended Hupyeong Middle School before transferring to Yukmin Gwan Middle School in Wonju-si, Gangwon-do. Hwang Hee-chan moved to Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do right following he was born in Hupyeong-dong.

In an interview with a local media outlet in Gangwon Province last June, Hwang Hee-chan told an anecdote that he was amazed to hear that Son Heung-min was born in Hupyeong-dong like him.
