Son allegedly broke toy; Father fined Rs 3.30 lakh

A father in Hong Kong literally had to pay a huge price for his son’s childish deed. The debtors demanded Rs 3.30 lakh from the father of a child for allegedly breaking a toy in a shopping mall. The incident took place at a toy store in a shopping mall in Hong Kong. The video goes viral with pieces of a gold-colored teletubbies doll lying on the floor of a designer toy store in the mall.

On Sunday evening, Cheng went with his wife and two sons to a store called KK Plus in Langham Place Mall. Debtors allege that Cheng’s eldest son broke a 1.8-meter-tall doll in gold. The toy store owners have demanded Rs 3,30,168 in compensation following their son allegedly smashed the toy statue.

Cheng says he went outside to pick up a phone call and then ran away when he heard a loud noise and saw his son standing motionless looking at a scattered toy. A staff member at the store told Cheng that his eldest son had smashed the toy. He believed it was his son’s fault and agreed to pay for the doll.

But Cheng sees the video of the incident later. After watching the video online, the father realized that his son had been falsely accused. He added that his wife had called KKPlus. When the boy moved back a little to make room for someone approaching him at the mall, he knocked on the doll and it fell over. Cheng said the incident hurt his son a lot.

Many on social media accused KKPlus of cheating on that father. Their question is why no security arrangements were made to prevent people from approaching the toy. But KKPlus posted a statement online that the toy had been in the same place since November last year and no customer had complained regarding the inconvenience. She said in a statement that the company would learn from this experience so that similar incidents do not happen once more.
