Rescue teams and volunteer divers are intensifying their efforts to search for the bodies of 3 new victims who drowned in the western beaches of the governorate, including Al-Nakhil Beach, known in the media as the Beach of Death, bringing the death toll from drowning during Eid al-Adha to 7 people.
Ehab Al-Malhi, head of the team of divers and volunteers “Khair Divers”, said that the new victims reported missing, including two young men from the city of Idku, are Muhammad Abdullah Zarif and Adham Muhammad Awad Mu’nis, who drowned this morning, Tuesday, in Al-Salam Beach, adjacent to Al-Nakhil Beach, west of Alexandria.
Al-Malhi added, in a press statement, that the third case of a young man named Muhammad Ahmed Al-Qadi, 17 years old, from Giza Governorate, drowned in Al-Nakhil Beach, known in the media as the Beach of Death, which is closed by an official decision.
He pointed out that coordination was carried out with all volunteer divers to quickly go to the aforementioned areas and search for and retrieve the bodies of the victims.
Rescue teams and volunteer divers retrieved this followingnoon the body of the young man, “Emad Mohamed Abdel Maksoud El-Khouli, 20 years old, from Menoufia Governorate,” who drowned yesterday in the distinguished beach of Sidi Bishr, east of Alexandria, 3 days following the body of Ahmed Mohamed Said, 25, a resident of Shubra. Al-Khaimah, Qalyubia Governorate, who drowned on the first day of Eid in one of the villages of the North Coast.
While the search is still underway for two other young men who drowned yesterday off the coasts of western Alexandria and the northern coast, they are “Mohamed Sayed Abdel Hamid, 20 years old, from Cairo Governorate,” who drowned on the northern coast in a tourist village at kilometer 61, and Younis Mastour Heiba, 17 years old, from the city of Burj Al Arab, drowned in a village on the North Coast in the Abu Sir area of Burj Al Arab.
And the governorate of Alexandria announced, earlier, that the warning yellow flags had been raised on the beaches due to the speed of the wind and the height of the waves, to demand that citizens be careful when going into the sea, especially in the beaches of Agami, which have few breakwaters.
It is noteworthy that Al-Nakhil Beach was closed by official decisions regarding two years ago, following repeated drowning incidents during the past summer seasons.
