Well prepared, eager to learn and in droves – this is how the young visitors came to the “Youth & Career” trade fair, which ended on Saturday. “The stands of our 341 exhibitors were literally stormed,” says Upper Austria’s Chamber of Commerce President Doris Hummer happily. “The exhibitors were asked a lot of questions, and we can tell from this alone that the young people are thinking intensively regarding their future career and training opportunities.”

Around 95,000 visitors found out regarding apprenticeships and training offers at schools, technical colleges and universities over the four days of the trade fair in Halls 20 and 21 and digitally. The “Youth & Career” trade fair is considered the largest careers fair of its kind in Austria. It is organized by the Chamber of Commerce in cooperation with the state of Upper Austria as the funding body.

Some young people even came to the trade fair in Wels twice, once with their school class and once more on Friday followingnoon or Saturday with their parents, to get a comprehensive picture of the numerous opportunities for vocational and school training and to gain live insights into the professional world receive. Many also took advantage of the opportunity to have a professional application photo taken. Afterwards, they received tips on how to best prepare for a job interview.

The trade fair preparation workshops run by the Chamber of Commerce Career Center in schools were also helpful for many. 2,500 students were prepared for their visit to the trade fair in 120 events.
