In order to respond to “its growth and competitiveness challenges”Schneider Electric Belgium announced, Thursday during an extraordinary works council, its intention to redeploy part of its production activities, those of its SBG division currently located in Uccle, to other European sites.

This redeployment might impact 85 jobs out of a total of more than 550 in Belgium.

The activity grouped under the name SBG division concerns the manufacture of modular low-voltage electrical products for the global market, such as switches, sockets, remote control switches and surge protection.

“If the intention were to be confirmed, we would seek a solution for each impacted employee and take appropriate support measures in close consultation with staff representatives”explained Yves Hofs, director of the Uccle site.

During this same extraordinary works council, the management of Schneider Electric Belgium also indicated that it wanted to invest in a brand new headquarters. This building, which would be a “reference” in terms of energy efficiency in Belgium, would house the technical skills center entirely dedicated to the Belgian market as well as all of its commercial activities, specifies the electrical equipment manufacturer. A move would be considered at the end of 2025, to Anderlecht.
