Some 6,000 children will be treated in the oncology ward set up at the “Niños de Acosta Ñu” Pediatric Hospital

Asuncion, IP Agency.- The Children’s Hospital “Niños de Acosta Ñu” inaugurated an oncology ward that will benefit approximately 6,000 children who have completed their cancer treatments. The work, which covers 200 square meters, was made possible through the cooperation of the Japanese government through the Mitã’í Foundation.

The new space has five consulting rooms, a reception area, a nursing station with a dressing room, a storage room for materials and bathrooms, in addition to the necessary basic furniture.

At the inauguration, the Vice Minister of Comprehensive Health Care and Social Welfare, Santiago García, highlighted that this new infrastructure will allow high-quality care to be offered to children who continue their fight against cancer, with advanced treatments and specialized care.

He also highlighted the importance of international cooperation and stated that joint work made this achievement possible, demonstrating the positive impact that can be achieved when efforts are joined together for a common goal.

At this point, he thanked the Japanese government for its contribution and reaffirmed the commitment to continue working together to improve the health of the population. He particularly thanked the Japanese ambassador, Nakatani Yoshie, who also participated in the event.

García, who was accompanied by the Vice Minister of Health Management and Surveillance, José Ortellado, stressed that the goal is to provide a comprehensive and humane service that accompanies children and their families at each stage of the recovery process.

This facility will offer greater comfort during follow-up check-ups. Patients will be able to receive comprehensive care from their pediatrician, onco-hematologist, traumatologist or neurosurgeon in a single visit, depending on the type of cancer and the treatment received during the years of fighting the disease.

The collaboration between the Government of Japan and the Mitã’í Foundation was fundamental to achieving this goal, demonstrating that united efforts can transform lives and offer hope to those who need it most.

The Children’s Hospital “Niños de Acosta Ñu” continues to be a benchmark in the specialized care of children with serious illnesses, and with this new addition, it reinforces its commitment to providing quality care to its patients, the Ministry of Public Health highlighted.
