Some 16 families affected by the fire in Chacarita have already resettled in homes built by the SEN

Asuncion, IP Agency.- Some 16 families whose homes were consumed by the fire that occurred on Sunday in the Chacarita neighborhood have already moved back into the new temporary homes built by the National Emergency Secretariat on a property in the Costanera area.

After assisting families in a shelter with mattresses, food and other services, the National Emergency Secretariat began on Monday the construction of new temporary housing for the families, until a definitive relocation is achieved.

On Thursday morning, the Minister of the SEN, Arsenio Zárate, gave an update on the work carried out, highlighting that so far 21 of the 36 homes that are expected to be completed tomorrow Friday are being completed.

“Our commitment is to deliver the 36 temporary homes tomorrow. As we finish, we will deliver them. So far, 16 families are already living there and more families will arrive in the coming days,” he said.

He said that the temporary housing, which has the same characteristics as the one these families had, already has water and electricity, and that portable chemical toilets and containers for showers are also being provided. “Within the precarious conditions, they will have all the necessary services,” he said.

“They will have the same amenities they had, plus space for children to play in greater safety. This is a place that is a hundred meters from the main avenue, not like before when they were on the side of the road, and there is enough space for recreation,” he said.

Zárate also highlighted that with the collaboration of the Armed Forces and a company that provides them with supplies, prepared food is being cooked and delivered to families.
