A woman in Somalia, East Africa, was resting at home when she was shot into her vagina by an unknown stray bullet. After being rushed to the hospital, the bullet was found stuck in her clitoris. Fortunately, the doctor managed to remove the bullet following local anesthesia in time, which became the first case in history and was recorded in the International Journal of Surgery Case Reports.
According to the New York Post, a 24-year-old woman in Somalia, East Africa, was resting at home when a 2-centimeter stray bullet was shot into her vagina. After an emergency trip to the Erdoğan Hospital in Mogadishu, a tomographic scan revealed that the bullet had become lodged in the clitoris and required immediate surgery to remove it.
After the incident, the doctor also administered local anesthesia to the woman and successfully removed the bullet. After the operation, the woman recovered well and was discharged from the hospital on the second day. There were no other complications following returning to the clinic. In this regard, the doctor also said, “We think this is both rare and interesting, but fortunately, the bullet hit her at a low speed, otherwise her health may be threatened.”
According to the report, cases of vulvar trauma, usually unrelated to pregnancy, are extremely rare and are usually caused by sports, including straddle injuries, burns, animal and human bites, and sexual assault. Therefore, this case became the first case in history and was recorded in the case report of the International Journal of Surgery.
