Sollers will produce small-tonnage JAC under its own brand – Autoreview

It was known that the Sollers company on the conveyor of the plant in Elabuga was preparing a replacement for the Transit that had left Russia. for a long time. But about specific models, the intrigue remained until the last moment – there were even fantastic rumors about the revival of production from Russian components of the same Transit. The reality turned out to be more prosaic – light-tonnage vehicles of the Chinese brand JAC will be assembled in Russia under the specially created SOLLERS brand.

However, as in the case of capital Moskvich, the company practically does not indicate the Chinese origin of their cars – and there is still little information about the project. As previously reported, there will be two models.

On the emblem – the interweaving of orbits

The first is the JAC N25/N35 tadpole, which will now be called SOLLERS Argo. In fact, it is an analogue of the well-known Hyundai Porter. The machine will be available in two versions – with a gross weight of 2.5 and 3.5 tons. Two engines will also be offered – a 130-horsepower diesel engine will complement the 147-horsepower gasoline unit.

The second car is a JAC Sunray all-metal van. In Russia, he will receive the proud name SOLLERS Atlant. A wide range of modifications is expected – it is likely that the van will be available in several versions in length and roof height. Gross weight – from 2.5 to 4.2 tons. Gasoline engines are not allowed for Atlanta – diesel engines with a capacity of 139 or 150 hp are offered for choice.

Outwardly, both cars differ from their Chinese ancestors only in emblems. It is reported that orders for new models are already being accepted, and sales should start in December this year. True, the level of localization of the first machines, most likely, will be minimal.

The Argo model has ordinary stickers instead of nameplates

But already in 2023, full-fledged production should begin – with stamping of body parts, painting and complete assembly. They promise to localize a lot – electronics, plastic parts and chassis elements. What’s there – it is even planned to master the production of diesel engines: apparently, at the same enterprise where they were going to produce Ford diesel engines.

It is also noted that the entire current staff of the plant in Yelabuga will be involved in the work on the project. The total investment in the launch of new models is more than five billion rubles. As for the cost of the machines themselves, the final prices will be announced closer to the start of sales.
