Solitary Sabred has been around for over twenty years, with the Cypriots exclusively making the stage unsafe for the first few years. The first physical recording was only released in 2008. Consequently, it wasn’t a studio product, but a short live album that gave us Solitary Sabred back then as a trio.

In the following years the band grew to a quartet size and finally to a five-piece, which remains to this day. So there is with Temple Of The Serpent After more than twenty years as a band, this is actually only the fourth studio album to be heard.

Headbanger’s heart is worried

After the mystical intro called Echoes From The Tomb The five-piece lets it rip for a while. A sleek riff, a forward-pushing rhythm section and epic vocals immediately warm the headbanger’s heart. The opener The Skeleton King is perfectly chosen and immediately draws us to the band’s side.

The slight course correction compared to the previous album is noticeable By Fire & Brimstone von 2020.
Solitary Sabred are on Temple Of The Serpent move much faster and cleverly mix epic heavy metal and fast US metal. The frontman Petros Leptos gives off high, sharp screams and offers up epic melodies in the choruses.

The Solitary Sabred Not reinventing anything, but drawing from the best in the industry doesn’t take away from the fun of listening. In addition to the more refined direction, the overall picture seems more coherent and the production is much more mature than on previous albums.

In bester Tradition

Many of the songs are reminiscent of the great deeds of heavy metal. Spectral Domain has guitar sounds and vocal lines, like Iron Maiden they would also use. Bound By The Lichthat you HERE can hear, fits wonderfully into the prey scheme of fans of Eternal Champion.

Solitary Sabred cleverly and variedly package their fantasy stories set to music in quick numbers like Flight Of The Bansheewhich has some remarkable and dizzying high notes in the best possible way King Diamond-tradition holds. But there is also epic marching like sword-wielding Reaper Of Kur. The final one Gates Of Namtar once once more offers the finest metal with beautiful guitar work and leaves every metalhead with satisfied faces following the last words spoken.

Conclusion
Solitary Sabred
On their fourth album they offer a successful mix of fast-paced US metal and epic melodies. With Temple Of The Serpent Nothing is reinvented, but rather built on proven foundations. An album for the true metal faction. 8 / 10
