The tragic events underway in Israel and the Palestinian territories do not leave us indifferent. Thus, the Liège municipal councilor Pascal Rodeyns wrote, this Sunday, to all the members of the municipal council of the Cité ardente, with a very specific request. Here is his letter:
”Ladies and Gentlemen Aldermen, My Dear Colleagues,
The Israeli population has been the victim of a large-scale terrorist attack perpetrated by the terrorist organization Hamas in recent hours.
The European Parliament, the European Commission and Germany in particular, hoisted or displayed the Israeli flag as a show of solidarity with the bereaved Israeli people.
Liège, which has also been marked by the evils of terrorism, must, in my opinion, stand alongside the Israeli people in these dark hours when they are mourning their dead, trying to free the hostages and put an end to the attack.
I therefore request that the Israeli flag be raised this evening on City Hall.”
We are now awaiting a response from the municipal authority.
