Hotel schools, multiple applications, premium bank cards… Despite the rise in prices in restaurants, many solutions exist to continue to eat well at a low price. Our 4 tips for cheaper restaurant bills.
More and more expensive restaurants
Inflation is on restaurant plates. This is according to the research firm NPD Group. According to the latter, prices in restaurants have increased by 10 to 15% in 1 year. Consumers have clearly identified this price increase. In fact, in a survey conducted by Revenue Management Solutions, which specializes in improving the profitability of catering, 77% of those surveyed noted an increase in menu prices in restaurants. 29% of them are trying to lower the bill with coupons and other reductions, 22% are moving towards cheaper menus, 16% no longer order desserts and 11% of those questioned have given up drinks at the table . But there are fortunately other solutions to eat well without breaking the bank.
Tip #1: Apps for discounted prices
There are many applications to take advantage of attractive discounts at the best tables. The oldest, TheFork, offers reductions ranging from 5 to 50% provided you reserve your place early enough from the application.
The Vazee application allows you to earn points by photographing your bill in great detail. The Strasbourg start-up behind this application collects a lot of information on the consumption of certain products, which it then provides to brands. Once the points have been collected, the customer can exchange them for gifts or promotions.
Tip 2: Exclusive discounts at restaurants for customers of certain banks
Bank account holders can benefit, as customers, from privileges negotiated for them with partners delivering their favorite dishes to their homes, such as
Uber Eats
or the ingredients to play chefs at home, with for example
And quit
. Something to enjoy without moving!
Tip n°3: a subscription to your restaurant
Another tip, subscribe to Restopolitan. The company allows its cardholders to benefit from a free meal with each addition to the restaurant. For this, you must be at least 2 people and the cheapest menu of the two is offered (excluding drinks). Subscription cost?
9,99 euros
/ month without commitment. Establishments like Pizza del Arte (
34,99 euros
/month) or the Uni brewery (
5,90 euros
/month for 1 year) to
Lyon
are also riding the restaurant subscription wave. For the pizza chain, the subscription pays for itself very quickly provided you go to the restaurant at least 3 times a month. For the brasserie, the subscription allows you to obtain reductions of 70% on drinks and 40% on dishes.
Tip n°4: associative restaurants and hotel schools
Finally, be aware that there are also establishments where the prices are more affordable than elsewhere. The hotel restaurants of hotel schools, for example, offer gourmet cuisine at reduced prices. Count less than
50 euros
the evening menu and less than
30 euros
at noon for dishes that are often very successful, concocted by aspiring chefs and served by students in training. Only downside, these restaurants are usually closed on weekends. You can also go to the associative restaurants. Located most of the time in third places, they allow people in integration to work and offer you a good meal at free price or much lower than what is done elsewhere (less than
10 euros
).
Food tour, when travel comes to your plate
What if you went around the world, without moving from your city, from your plate? This is what many specialists in tasty cuisine offer as part of gastronomic tours, also known as food tours. The No Diet Club agency, for example, offers culinary expeditions to Paris, Bordeaux,
Toulouse
or Brussels. For each city, a selection of the best Chinese, Japanese, Italian or simply French specialties of a district to be discovered in the company of a guide. The Hong Kong tour of Paris, for example, offers
42 euros
a 3-hour walking tour to discover the specialties of 6 different restaurants. The Viator site also offers many food tours.
